Non-Stop Color!
I have always loved color.
In fact, I barely own anything black in my wardrobe.
Fashionistas have been talking about it. It's in every fashion magazine. Every designer from Gucci to Diane von Furstenberg has a version of it.
Even New York, the city who loves black to the fullest capacity, has embraced the color blocking trend. It's hitting hard. For a color junkie like myself, it brings a smile to my face. What is color blocking? Well, it is the mixing of bold and bright colors that support and compliment each other. Imagine a teal blouse with a cobalt blue skinny pant and steamy hot pink open toe pump - all paired together. Envision a yellow silk scarf with red tank and navy pant with white ballerina flat as a complete ensemble.
Color blocking is placing of the hues of the rainbow on the body by using clothing, shoes, accessories, make-up and even nail designs. This is a bold fashion statement. To color block successfully, I suggest mixing complimentary colors like purple and yellow, blue and orange, red and green. (Check out the color wheel.) Most importantly, be fearless in this trend. Its all about combining color in a saucy way!

Complete The Look!
Completing a look can be as adventurous as skydiving. Most times, we wear a shirt, pants or skirt, socks, shoes and you can't forget undergarments. There are certain items that I call completer pieces. They seal the deal on the outfit.
They are but not limited to the following list below:
1. scarf
2.necklace
3. blazer
4. tights
5. cardigan
6. hat
7. belt
8. vest
9. earrings
If you check out my list, it may seem as if accessories complete the look. Well, that's absolutely true; however, a few clothing items also help to conclude a magnificent ensemble. Let me explain what I mean by completion of a look, it is a garment or accessory that gives your ensemble the ompf it needs to turn heads.
First, let's start with the scarf. Adding a scarf is an easy way to bring more dimension to your outfit. Below the model is wearing muted colors, the pop of color from the scarf add effortless piazzaz.
A rocking necklace is another way to add punch to an ensemble. This necklace is crazy dramatic, but it's an awesome statement piece that finishes this look. The model below is wearing a diagonal neckline but with nuetral colors. If you decide to be over the top with your neck wear, try wearing a solid top.
I love a blazer! It does wonders for an outfit and not to mention the body. It can define a waist. Blazers create a streamline look that almost never fails. It's a piece that even the fashionable unconscious don't have to think twice about. You wear it. You look good. (I'm assuming the fit is proper. If not, that's another blog post.)
So simple. So good. So vogue.
Most times, we don't think of tights to finish a look. It's a seasonal completer piece but tights can add more texture to your outfit. It also can play up your style personality since they come in an infinite amount colors and patterns.
Cardigans are an awesome ensemble enhancer. It's a great layering piece that soups up an ordinary outfit. It has extreme versality since it can be used as a light jacket on windy day.
A delicious hat can make your outfit devine. It's a bold finisher but when you combine a sassy hat to the right ensemble. You will look like a rock star.
Belts are also an easy way to perfect a look. It cinches the waist or can enhance your hips (for the boyish figures) depending on the type of belt you're wearing. I live by the belt. I always add a belt to most of my outfits. It adds the flair I need and provides the extra punch I crave to feel well-dressed.
Vests jazz up an outfit. They provide a sophisticated edge. It's a great layering piece to wear under myriad items - blazers, cardigans, cropped jackets. Boys look good in them too. (Note, check out baseball hat to finish the look of a polished two piece suit. It's a statement well done. Love it! I must make mention of Pharrell's pocket square. It's not on my list but it's taking this look to the next level!)
I live for a breathtaking earring. It can up the anty on an outfit ten fold. When more dramatic on the ears, I simplify the upper half of the outfit. That's what amazing earrings will do - make people look at your beautiful face. A truly glamorus earrings can uplift an ensemble and complete the look!

The Almighty Blazer
This is one item that everyone of all body types should have in their closets - the almighty blazer. It does wonders for the body as well as help to make a strong fashion statement. Let's talk about bodies for just one second, if you chose a structured blazer, your waistline will appear smaller, creating the wonderful hourflass figure that we all adore. Trust me, I have an athletic body type, I always go for a single-breasted, two button blazer with a tailored waistline. It never fails to create some curves on my figure. It's also a great completer piece. A good-looking blazer can polish a look. It's extremely versatile and welcomed in almost every atomosphere: in the office, a night on the town, hanging in Martha's Vineyard, or going to the movies. A cool blazer is chic and easy to wear. It's a style staple. Hands down. (Btw, that will be my next post, the beauty of completing look!)

Marchesa Spring 2011
Marchesa Spring 2011 collection was absolutely stunning. Everything that walked the runway was a piece of art. Designers Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman of Marchesa have mastered laser cut fabrics, embroidery and not to mention gravity defying gowns. The blush silk laser cut, ruffled gown, the blush tool heirloom jumpsuit with black cropped lace jacket and the violet and silver hand-painted strapless gown were perfectly constructed. It's sensory overload for the eyes.

Love is the New Black
Love is the new black
I love fashion. I love to look good. I love love! When it comes to love in a romantic relationship I've noticed, it's less about what you're wearing and more about the connection, energy, and chemistry with the special person in your life. I've fret many days about what to wear on a date. Should I wear a sexy, classic little black dress? Or should I wear jaw dropping lingerie? Yes! I should do both. My boyfriend, most times, does not care what I'm wearing. I can be sporting in a dingy t-shirt and jeans and he tells me that I'm beautiful. Don't worry, you won't catch me wearing a dingy t-shirt unless its perfectly distressed and manufactured to be a grungy glam tee. It's just nice to know that he appreciates me for me and not for what I am wearing.
Rodarte Spring 2011
Fashionistas love new things! I have to say that the Rodarte Spring 2011 collection was a favorite. The 70s inspired line reminded my of my mother's basement. A wood panel print dress, the chocolate embossed leather skirt with matching 3-quarter skirt and the navy, cream, and chocolate color palette was candy to my eyes. This collection yelled funky glamour. The soul of fashion landed in this collection and I LOVE it!
Givenchy Haute Couture Spring 2011
Fashion Week is in full effect in New York City. Designers are showcasing their Spring 2011 lines. It's exciting to see all the styles, cuts, colors and fabrics that has graced the runway. Some designers such as Tom Ford embraced the idea of a small intimate fashion show with less shenanigans. With the change in the American economy, the recession has not completely disappeared, other designers followed suit. However, this luxurious industry is still producing bad ass clothing. I LOVED the Givenchy Haute Couture Spring 2011 collection.
Givenchy Haute Couture collection features a delicious daubute of formal gowns. The color pallete was soft, light, and full of delicate pastel colors: ivory, canary, and pale rose. The surprise pop of Vegas red on the back of some gowns were electric and showed spontaneity in this ultra feminine line. The use of feathers and nicely tied obi knots completed the look. And, I must not forget the sci-fi helmets, shaped as glamorous horns, take us out of space into a fashion universe.
